A real home for your year in Spain, not a holiday let

Moving to the Costa del Sol for a school year, a work posting or a sabbatical usually means two bad months before the good ones: hotel rooms, viewings in a language you are still learning, a flat with no furniture and utility contracts you cannot open without a Spanish tax number. This apartment removes all of it. It is 103 m², two bedrooms, two bathrooms, fully furnished down to the cutlery, with internet already running and the alarm already installed.

It is let on a long-term residential basis, not as a holiday rental, so the price stays flat from September to June and you are not moved out for the high season. Families with school-age children, couples working remotely and academics on sabbatical are exactly who this flat was set up for.

Cabopino, at the eastern edge of Marbella

Cabopino sits where Marbella meets Mijas Costa, about fifteen minutes east of Marbella town. It is a low-rise residential area rather than a resort strip: a small marina, the protected dunes of Artola behind the beach, a handful of restaurants that stay open in winter, and a supermarket and pharmacy within walking distance.

The A-7 and the AP-7 toll motorway are both a couple of minutes away, which puts Málaga Airport at around thirty minutes and Marbella centre, Puerto Banús, Fuengirola and La Cala within easy reach. Several international and bilingual schools operate in the surrounding area, which is the practical reason most relocating families look at this stretch of coast in the first place.

Questions people ask before moving

What is the minimum rental period?

The standard lease runs ten months, from September to June, which matches the Spanish school year. A seven-month minimum can be agreed depending on the dates. It is not available for stays shorter than that.

Is the apartment furnished?

Yes, completely. Beds, sofas, wardrobes, dining table, washing machine, and a kitchen equipped with crockery, pans and small appliances. You need to bring personal belongings and nothing else.

Which bills are included in the rent?

Community fees, refuse charges and the IBI property tax are all included in the €1,450. Water and electricity are billed separately and typically come to around €40 and €80 a month respectively, depending on the season and how you use the heating and air conditioning.

Is the internet good enough to work from home?

There is a 1GB fibre optic line already connected and active. It handles video calls, large file transfers and several people working at once without difficulty.

Are there international schools nearby?

Yes. Several international and bilingual schools serve the Marbella and Mijas Costa area, most of them within a fifteen to twenty-five minute drive. We are happy to point you towards the ones that fit your children's ages and curriculum.

How many people can stay?

Five. There is a double bedroom, a second bedroom with a bunk bed, and two bathrooms. It works well for a couple with up to three children, or two adults who want a spare room to work in.

Are pets allowed?

No, unfortunately not.

What documents do I need to sign the lease?

Personal references, an employment contract or proof of income, and a deposit of two months' rent. If you are moving from abroad we can work with the equivalent documents from your own country.

Can I move in outside September?

Sometimes. September to June is the standard cycle, but if the flat is free we can start a lease at another point in the year. Ask and we will tell you honestly what is available.

Tell us about your move

The more you tell us — your dates, how many of you are coming, where you are moving from — the faster we can confirm whether the flat works for you.
